Power Chai is the new name for David Rio's Masala Chai. Exact same recipe except for small amounts of Matcha added. Matcha is extremely potent and is known to have at least 10 times the antioxidants as green tea.

David Rio Masala Chai is a spirited blend of black tea and aromatic spices in the tradition of the spiced milk tea of India. The sweet and savory spices are the perfect compliment to the full, rich flavor of the tea. A tempting treat any time of the day.

An essential ingredient of India daily life, cups of hot, milky chai are sipped throughout the day and served by street vendors know as chaiwallahs. The traditional masala chai flavors are appreciated in India for their ayurvedic health benefits. This flavor is unique in the chai market and is USDA Organic Cerified as well as Vegan, Kosher, Gluten free. This very popular David Rio flavor also requires no refrigeration and is a very close match in flavor to concentrates.

2 of 5 Thank you reviewer GTO January 8, 2022
Reviewer: Samantha from Shelby Township, MI United States
Thank you to reviewer GTO for the idea on how to make this tea less sweet. I did not read all the way to the bottom of the page where it stated that the first ingredient in this tea is cane sugar followed by maltodextrin, so much for my goal to switch to chai to be healthier. I thought I would just have to throw it away, but I'm going to try straining the sugar out. While the tea is delicious, if your goal is health, you may want to look elsewhere. Lesson learned on thoroughly reading the description before buying.

4 of 5 Power Chai 3 lb. bag December 29, 2018
Reviewer: JG from Middlefield, OH United States
David Rio's Power Chai with matcha is one of my favorite chais, and the 3 lb. bag is the most economical choice because it is concentrated, requiring only 1 tbs. of powder rather than 2.  However, I discovered that the taste of this mix is somewhat different, and I actually prefer the flavor of the mix in the smaller canister.

5 of 5 First Time Chai User February 19, 2016

This brand and type was absolutely delicious. I spooned 3 tablespoons into the bottom of the glass carafe of my automatic coffee maker.  I had put 16 ounces of water I that maker which equaled the "4" mark on the carafe. I then "brewed" the plain water to heat it into the carafe which had the powdered chai. When it was finished, I swirled the carafe around to really mix the hot water and the chai. I didn't use milk to make it a latte.  I don't have that kind of time I the morning. I can set this up the night before and flick the "on" switch in the morning. I like it this way!

5 of 5 Well Balanced Chai Mix August 18, 2015
Reviewer: Troy the Chai-Direct Chai Tasting Guy
Nicely balanced and not too sweet! This one pretty much nails the chai you'll find served in fine Indian restaurants. David Rio Masala Chai powder has all the traditional flavor of chai, plus I notice a subtle richness here that seems almost reminiscent of hot cocoa (albeit without the extreme sweetness). The spices here give a subtle presence such that you certainly do notice them, yet they are smooth and nicely blended at the same time. When mixing, the cinnamon (?) likes to stay at the surface somewhat instead of blending into solution, but this is a visual aspect only. There is no affect on taste. And it does gradually disappear with enough stirring. Very good and convenient chai. No brewing required. This is one of my favorites!

5 of 5 Trick to make less sweet August 18, 2015
Reviewer: GTO
If you prefer your chai less-sweet, like I do, here is a little trick you do with this David Rio Chai Masala Organic Chai. Not that this is overly sweet. It's actually fairly low on the sweetness-scale compared to many other chais. But I like my chai "hot and very spicy" so reducing the sweet lets me increase the flavor without too much sweet.

David Rio Chai Masala Organic Chai dry mix has large and small particles. The large ones are quite a bit sweeter than the small ones and look like organic "raw" sugar. Maybe they are the "Organic evaporated cane juice" - I don't know? Anyway, I use an ordinary kitchen strainer to separate the large and small particles. I use the large, sweet particles for other dishes like ice cream (they retain a good amount of chainess flavor) while I make my chai from the small particles.
